Group for glazes and whitewares sinter-crystallization

The activity of the group is oriented to the study of the physicochemical phenomena that occur during the thermal treatment that ceramic glazes and bodies undergo during their firing process. These phenomena cause a combined process of elimination of porosity (sintering) and formation of crystalline phases (crystallization) known as sintercrystallization that determines the final properties of ceramic glazes and bodies. The research lines of the group focus mainly on a) the study of the different mechanisms that come into play during the sintercrystallization process and b) the analysis of the relationship between said mechanisms and the microstructural characteristics and technical performance of the ceramic bodies and glazes resulting from the thermal processes to which they are subjected.
