Journalism, Communication and Power

The Journalism, Communication and Power group is made up of researchers from the Journalism area of the Universitat Jaume I in Castellón. Its main activity is oriented towards the study of political communication and the transformations of journalism in the digital environment. To this end, its members apply various methodologies ranging from content analysis to surveys, in-depth interviews and case studies. In recent years, this research group has developed 10 research projects funded in competitive calls belonging to the National R&D Plan of the AEI, the R&D Programme of the Generalitat Valenciana, the Research Promotion Plan of the UJI and the Jean Monnet actions of the European Union. In this sense, it is worth highlighting its role as coordinator of the DIGI-COMPOL Network, funded by the AEI and made up of 12 research groups belonging to different Spanish universities that are dedicated to digital political communication. Its work has made a decisive contribution to defining the characteristics and impact of the main forms of communication used by politicians, journalists, activists and citizens on social media and digital platforms, offering new and relevant knowledge on this issue. Finally, it has contributed to the training of new researchers in its field with the supervision of 15 doctoral theses and the mentoring of 7 pre-doctoral and post-doctoral fellowships.
