Interactive and Robotic Systems

IRS Lab represents a research group involved in different dimensions of AI, through the context called intelligent robotics. IRS Lab actively participates in national and international scientific societies and networks, as well as in research projects with a strong component in both AI techniques and robotics. The quality of the research in this context is supported by a total of 40 publications, in international journals with an impact index, and a total of 10 doctoral theses. Much of this work is related to doctoral theses developed to date, including techniques ranging from "deep learning" to "3D image reconstruction", through to "robotic grasp planning" or "information fusion sensory ", among others. As recent achievements, we can cite the signing, by the Rector, of the collaboration agreement with CERN (2018); The concession of the infrastructure project financed with FEDER funds through the GVA (IDIFEDER / 2018/013); The award by the European Commission of the “Erasmus Mundus Master in Marine and Maritime Intelligent Robotics (MIR)” and the research project H2020-945320 (where the IRS-Lab is working on the design of remote-controlled robotic pipeline inspection systems, without or with the presence of water. In this project, the entire robotic system is designed, including mechatronics, embedded software and a remote control system). In short, the will of the IRS Lab is mainly oriented towards technological progress, in the context of intervention systems, where access by an expert could be very difficult or even impossible (underwater, radioactive environments, etc.). The skill and knowledge of the expert user allows, with the help of the appropriate robotic system, to be extended to inaccessible environments, out of a vocation to serve humanity.
