GID - Green Investigation & Development is a research group from the Universitat Jaume I that began its work in 1997. We were pioneers in topics such as ecodesign and environmental assessment of products with the methodology of life cycle analysis (LCA). We have worked in practically all sectors: furniture, water, food, plastics, energy, transport, construction, metal, waste, toys, nanotechnology, etc., opting for creative solutions and high scientific level that allow us to improve the processes of environmental assessment and thus propose sustainable alternatives. For example, we have created tools that facilitate green public procurement, we have improved methodologies for calculating environmental impacts in the categories of noise and human toxicity, we have developed specific techniques for measuring circularity, etc. Much of our research has been in the early stages of emerging technologies, drawing on a wide range of interdisciplinary expertise such as industrial scale-up and simulations, scenario analysis, fate-exposure models, chemical synthesis, probabilistic models and multi-criteria decision techniques. From environmental assessment, we have evolved towards sustainability assessment with the analysis of social impacts during the life cycle, circular economy, resilience and criticality of raw materials. At the same time, we have continued with a second line of research focused on water modelling in distribution systems to improve its quality and reduce impacts, working with the Canal de Isabel II and the Underwater Robotics Centre, CIRTESU.
