Personality and Psychopathology

The main interest of our group is the study and measurement of personality and individual differences. We investigate how personality and other relevant factors are related to psychopathology and health. We are currently working on the internalising and externalising syndromes that include psychological disorders that are among the most common and are closely related to personality. Most of our research efforts have been focused on externalising disorders, especially the consumption of alcohol and other drugs. Personality is one of multiple factors that interact in a complex manner in the development of addictions, but also in other psychological disorders and health-related behaviours. Thus, our research takes into account different genetic, psychological and social variables related to psychopathology and health.
