Dynamic Systems, Numerical Simulation and Modelling

The research group is based around a core of researchers who have been part of the UJI since its founding, and whose interests are oriented towards various facets of the modeling and simulation of natural phenomena using ordinary and partial differential equations, such as the development of tools for the qualitative study of such systems and their approximate solution via efficient techniques which preserve the systems’ geometric properties. In recent years, several younger researchers have been incorporated into the group, initially contracted under the auspices of different national research projects. The research orientation of the group in its current form is multidisciplinary, by virtue of both its diverse composition and the variety of problems which are tackled. The group’s members publish the results of their research in the most prestigious journals within the fields of computational and applied mathematics, in collaboration with a wide range of national and international collaborators, both within and without the Spanish research networks (specifically DANCE-Net and Geometría, Dinámica y Teoría de Campos) in which the group is included. Among the various successful research lines, one must single out the simulation of the behavior of shallow water in ports and estuaries, the study of discrete dynamical systems, the dynamics of iterative methods and the development of geometric numerical integration algorithms applied to numerous problems that appear in science and engineering (classical and quantum mechanics, celestial mechanics, astrodynamics, chemical physics, molecular dynamics and quantum computing).
