The group conducts research in theoretical and computational chemistry, working with molecules, biological systems and materials at macro and nano-metric scale. It also combines theory, simulation and experiment to investigate the rational design of new materials and studies the nature of the chemical bond through different tools, such as electronic density. Over the years the group has published more than 400 articles in international journals, about 20 book chapters, and about 20 teaching books and 2 books as co-editor. It has also presented more than 500 communications at national and international conferences, more than 30 conferences at international congresses and more than 15 at national conferences. More than 40 conferences have been given at foreign universities and research centres, and more than 20 at different universities in Spain. The members of the group have participated in more than 50 research projects, funded by the European Union, the Government of Spain, the Valencian Regional Government and the UJI. It is worth highlighting the group's consideration as a Marie-Curie centre of excellence for the European Union, the 2010 Consolider-Ingenio Project on high-pressure matter, the Prometheus Projects of the Valencian Regional Government from 2009 to 2018 and the uninterrupted granting of national projects since 1985. Within the group, more than 25 doctoral theses have been carried out. Many of these doctors trained in the group are now qualified professionals in the industry and/or in the academic world at different universities and research centres in Spain and in different European and American countries.
