Scientific Communication and Culture

For more than a decade, Comunicación y Cultura Científica has been promoting research projects in the field of science communication, especially in relation to the problems of visual representation and reliability of scientific knowledge, the results of which have been published in more than twenty scientific articles in national and international journals. We are mainly concerned with determining the characteristics of scientific images and their historical role in the generation and distribution of knowledge, as well as with establishing appropriate strategies for the correct distinction of scientific knowledge from pseudoscientific discourse, as well as the promotion of rigorous knowledge in the Human and Social Sciences. In our most recent research work we analyse the characteristics and effects of scientific image manipulation and counterfeit detection strategies, in an interdisciplinary collaborative project that aims to develop automated counterfeit detection strategies using Artificial Intelligence techniques that improve existing detection algorithms, providing forensic analysis tools that are useful to the research community to minimise the devastating effects that scientific fraud is having on the contemporary knowledge generation system. Beyond research activities, Comunicación y Cultura Científica has been developing scientific dissemination contents and courses for more than 15 years and promoting the transfer of knowledge generated in academic and research institutions.
